I just saw “The Soloist” and it was not what I thought it would be. Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. did an excellent job in their roles, but the movie was very slow. It is about a homeless man living in LA who is found by a struggling journalist trying to make a news story out of his life. The homeless man (Foxx) used to attend Guillard for music and is a great musician who loves Beethoven. The movie also brings to light the fact that there are 90,000 homeless people living on the streets of greater Los Angeles. I would recommend this movie to some, but not to all. Film Review: The Soloist
April 29th, 2009Film Review: Adventureland
April 29th, 2009
Adventureland, to me, was trying to be like the next great indie drama. When James Brenna (Jesse Eisenberg) finishes college jobless, he is forced to find a summer job at the local theme park Adventureland. There he meets Em (Kristin Stewart) and falls in love. Enter melodramatic indie music and drama everywhere…
Film Review: I Love You, Man
April 29th, 2009
“I Love You, Man” was a great film about a woman’s greatest enemy- the bromance. When one man is about to get married and realizes he has not guy friends, the search begins to find a man-friend. Going on man-dates and getting hooked up through mutual friends, Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) finally finds his bro-match through quirky Sydney Fife (Jason Segal). The movie is good entertainment and pretty funny as well. Check out the trailer below…
Music Review: Kings of Leon
April 29th, 2009
At the place I interned, Kings of Leon was widely talked about. They are even on our May/June cover. Sons of a pentecostal preacher and forced to travel year round, these four brothers formed the band Kings of Leon. They quickly rose to fame outside of the U.S.- even selling more albums than Coldplay in New Zealand and selling more seats than Coldplay in England. They are now gaining noteriety in the States for their southern-rock sound. Listen to “On Call,” “Sex on Fire,” and “Knocked Up” on their MySpace.

Film Review: Watchmen
April 29th, 2009
I had been anticipating this movie for months before it’s release, and even started reading the graphic novel. Hailed as the best graphic novel of all time, and on Time’s Top 100 books, Watchmen delivers many themes about life and God. The movie was interesting, although they could have done without the glowing male parts. Decide for yourself on this controversial film.
Website Review: Stuff Christians Like
April 29th, 2009This is a fun website for those who grew up going to church. I can relate to many of these posts, including having a metro-sexual worship leader and the overuse of the movie “Braveheart” in sermons.
Television Review: Chuck
April 29th, 2009I was a big fan of the hit television show “The O.C.” I cried when Marissa died, shunned the fourth season in it’s entirety and wore black the day the show came to a close. So I was excited to see that the producers, Josh Schwarts and McG, were creating a new show called Chuck. Chuck is nothing like the former teen drama but still delivers, to a more wider demographic. The premise of the show is about a guy who works at the local Buy More (aka Best Buy) who accidentally becomes a spy. Mixed with comedy and action, Chuck is a show everyone needs to watch. You can catch up on Hulu and start watching this NBC hit Mondays at 8 p.m.

Quite Possibly, The Best Trailer Ever
April 29th, 2009I almost cried during the trailer and will definitely be moved watching my childhood classic story, Where the Wild Things Are, come to life on the big screen. I have no more words other than to say watch this…
New in Music: The Vow
April 29th, 2009I’ve known these guys for some time now and the definitely deserve a listen. Coming from the small town of Lakeland, Florida, The Vow has been able to release their very own full length CD, recorded in 2008. Matt Kerley and Steele Strader make up this band that has been creating music for almost four years. You can purchase their album, Chasing a Runaway Sky, on iTunes or you can listen to it on their MySpace. Check out the song “Snow,” which is my favorite.

Music Review: Stacy Clark, Apples and Oranges
April 29th, 2009
I instantly fell in love with Stacy Clark the moment I heard the song “Unusual.” The CD begins with the song “Matter of Time” which perfectly sets the mood for the rest of the album. Other favorites include “Closer,” and “Empty Bottles,” in which Aaron Marsh from Copeland lends his vocals. Andrew McMahon from Jack’s Mannequin also sings on this album. You can listen on her MySpace or purchase from Amazon. You can even follow this Laguna Beach native on Twitter.
